Yasser Abdulraheem develops the new generation of solar cells
Solar cells are expensive. They they are expensive is because Silicon is the most expensive component in the assembly. Scientists work on making thinner slices of Silicon. However, the thinner the wafer, the more fragile it is. The cost of manufacturing goes up because lots of wafers break. Yasser Abdulraheem is working on developing a way to cut thin wafers, supporting it with glass and working on the other side. In addition, using Mapi Perovskite, he and the team he is working with increased the light harvesting ability of the cell by 30%.
