Hala Al-Jassar works on understanding dust storms

Sandstorms from the Kuwaiti deserts block sunlight, cause human injuries and damage to machinery. Hala Al-Jassar tries to understand dust storms, their timings and locations. She works to understand soil moisture and when it dries-up, leading to its breaking-up where it is then carried by wind. She created maps of moist and dry areas of the desert. She hopes this can help predict dust storms in the future.
